𧴠About Our Products
Â
Are your products really all-natural?
Yes! Every single Lavender Labrador product is made with real, natural ingredients and zero unnecessary chemicals. That means no artificial fragrances, parabens, preservatives, or fillersâjust clean, effective ingredients that nourish your skin and body.
I started this business because, as a kidney transplant recipient, I had to be extra careful about what I put on my skin. Many mainstream products contain toxins and harsh additives that can be absorbed into the body, potentially disrupting hormones and stressing your system. You deserve better! Thatâs why I carefully source ingredients that are pure, simple, and safe for sensitive, dry, and compromised skin.
What makes your products different from other natural skincare brands?
Iâm not just another âall-naturalâ brandâI create products with a very specific purpose: to be safe, nourishing, and effective for people with sensitive skin, allergies, and compromised immune systems.
Hereâs what sets Lavender Labrador apart:
â Handmade in small batches â No mass production, just carefully crafted skincare.
â Transplant & immunocompromised-friendly â Designed with extra safety and sensitivity in mind.
â Animal-safe formulas â No toxic ingredients that harm pets (especially for the paw balm!).
â Ingredient transparency â Youâll always know exactly whatâs in each product.
â Multi-use skincare â My products arenât just good for one thingâtallow butter can be used as a face moisturizer, lip balm, cuticle cream, and even a healing balm for scrapes!
Do your products contain preservatives?
Nope! I make everything in small, fresh batches, so thereâs no need for artificial preservatives. Instead, I use naturally shelf-stable ingredients like tallow, beeswax, and jojoba oil, which help keep products fresh without unnecessary chemicals.
Because my products are preservative-free, proper storage is important:
⢠Keep water out of jars and tins to prevent contamination.
⢠Store balms and deodorant in cool, dry places to prevent melting.
⢠If something softens too much, just pop it in the fridge to firm up again!
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Absolutely! I personally struggle with sensitive, reactive skin, and every product is formulated to be gentle, nourishing, and non-irritating. If youâve struggled with eczema, psoriasis, extreme dryness, or reactions to synthetic skincare, my products could be a game-changer for you!
What kind of essential oils do you use? Are they safe?
I only use pure, high-quality essential oils that are transplant-safe and gentle on the skin. I avoid oils known to be harsh, irritating, or problematic for people with certain medical conditions. I do the best I can to include any warnings in the product description if any essential oil could have negative effects for those on immunosuppressants and transplant medications. There is not much science done concerning essential oils and how they effect medication when used on the skin. If you have medical conditions, always be cautious before using products with essential oils.
đ Citrus oils, like lemon and bergamot, can react with UV and cause the skin to burn. This can lead to skin cancer.Â
đ Some can cause an allergic reaction, especially those with asthma.Â
đ Essential oils high in phenols, like cinnamon, can cause skin irritation Â
đ Grapefruit effects Tacrolimus, a transplant drug, so we want to avoid it in our oils too just to be safe!Â
If you have extra-sensitive skin or prefer fragrance-free skincare, I offer unscented versions of several products! Please do not hesitate to contact me and/or your doctor with any concerns so we can figure out the best, and safest, option for you.Â
Can I use your tallow balm on my face?
Yes! Tallow is one of the best natural moisturizers for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin. Because it closely mimics the natural oils (sebum) our skin produces, it absorbs beautifully without clogging pores.Â
People love using it as:
â A daily moisturizer for soft, glowing skin
â A healing balm for acne, eczema, and irritation
â A night cream for deep hydration while you sleep
â A protective barrier against harsh weather
Some people find Tallow to be too heavy for their face. If this is you and you are looking for a lighter option, check out specially formulated face creams!Â
Whatâs the shelf life of your products?
Most products last 12â24 months, depending on storage. Because they contain zero synthetic preservatives, they stay freshest when stored properly. If you ever have questions about a productâs freshness, just ask!
Â
Do you offer fragrance-free options?
Yes! I offer unscented versions of several products for those who are extra sensitive to essential oils or fragrance. Look for the unscented label on the product pages.
How should I store my products?
Since my products are made without preservatives, proper storage is key:
⢠Tallow Balm & Deodorant â Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. If it melts, just pop it in the fridge!
⢠Sugar Scrub â Keep water out of the jar to prevent spoilage. Store in cool place out of direct sunlight Â
⢠Lip Balm & Paw Balm â Perfect for pockets and purses but donât leave in a hot car!
đŤ Skincare & Being Immunocompromised
Why does natural skincare matter for transplant recipients and those with compromised immune systems?
When youâre immunosuppressed, your skin is more vulnerable to:
â Irritants and allergens â Harsh chemicals can cause rashes, breakouts, or reactions.
â Weakened skin barrier â Your skin can lose moisture faster and be more prone to damage.
â Toxin buildup â Your body struggles to process certain chemicals, increasing the risk of long-term effects.
Thatâs why clean, natural, and nourishing skincare is essential. My products are made with this in mind, so you can feel confident that theyâre safe for your skin and overall health.
Are your products safe for people undergoing chemotherapy, dialysis, or other medical treatments?
While everyoneâs body is different, my gentle, chemical-free formulas are an excellent option for people going through chemo, dialysis, or other medical treatments that cause dry, sensitive, or reactive skin. If youâre unsure, I always recommend doing a patch test or checking with your doctor.
Â
Are essential oils safe for transplant patients?
Most essential oils are safe in properly diluted skincare, but some (like grapefruit) can interfere with medications. I carefully choose only transplant-safe essential oils in my scented products. If you have concerns, check with your doctor or opt for my unscented versions.
Can people with eczema, psoriasis, or super dry skin use your products?
Yes! My tallow-based products are incredibly soothing for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and chronic dryness. They provide deep moisture without harsh chemicals that can trigger irritation.
Â
Can I use your tallow balm on cuts, burns, or rashes?
Tallow is known for its skin-healing properties and has been used for centuries for burns, cuts, and irritation. While I canât make medical claims, many customers find it helps soothe and protect damaged skin.
đ About Our Household & Pet Products
Are your household products truly natural and safe?
Yes! Just like my skincare, my household products are made with minimal, natural, and non-toxicingredients. Many conventional household cleaners, candles, and sprays contain synthetic fragrances, parabens, and harsh chemicals that can cause headaches, skin irritation, and even long-term health risksâespecially for those with weakened immune systems, chronic illnesses, or allergies.
At Lavender Labrador, I keep it simple:
â No artificial fragrances or dyes
â No toxic preservatives or additives
â Only safe, biodegradable, and eco-friendly ingredients
Are your cleaning products safe for people with allergies or sensitivities?
Yes! Many people with asthma, allergies, or immune system issues react to the strong synthetic chemicals in traditional cleaning products. My natural household products are formulated to be gentle, effective, and free from harsh irritants.
That said, always check the ingredientsâeven natural ingredients can trigger allergies for some people. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly, and I can help you find the best product for your needs!
What makes your pet products special?
My pet care products are designed with the same level of care and attention as my skincare line. Many pet balms, shampoos, and sprays contain essential oils, artificial fragrances, and chemicalsthat can be toxic to animals. I make sure my products are 100% pet-safe, lick-safe, and free from harmful ingredients.
Why pet owners love my products:
â Lick-safe, worry-free ingredients
â No toxic essential oils or artificial fragrances
â Safe for dogs, cats, ferrets & other pets
â Soothing, protective, and deeply moisturizing
Is your paw balm really safe for dogs and cats?
Yes! Unlike many pet balms that contain toxic essential oils or synthetic ingredients, mine is completely pet-safe and lick-safe. You can use it on paws, noses, and dry spots without worrying about harmful ingredients.
Sizes Available:
đž Small Tube â Perfect for samples or travel!
đž 2 oz Tin â Great for households with multiple pets or frequent use.
Â
How do I use the Paw Balm on my pet?
The Paw Balm is perfect for keeping dry, cracked paws and noses soft and healthy.
â For daily protection: Apply a light layer before walks to protect against hot pavement, cold weather, and rough terrain.
â For deep healing: Massage into paws, noses, or dry spots before bed to allow time to soak in overnight.
â For extra-sensitive pets: Try a small patch firstâsome animals take a little time to adjust to new textures!
Â
Why should I switch to natural household products?
Many traditional cleaning products contain toxic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and harsh preservatives that can irritate your skin, lungs, and immune system. Going natural helps reduce exposure to harmful ingredients, improve air quality, and protect your home from unnecessary toxins. Natural ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils are just as effectiveâwithout the risks.
What chemicals should I avoid in household products?
Look out for these harmful ingredients in mainstream cleaners and home products:
⢠Phthalates & synthetic fragrances â Linked to hormone disruption and allergies
⢠Ammonia & chlorine bleach â Can irritate the respiratory system
⢠Parabens & formaldehyde â Potentially carcinogenic preservatives
⢠Petroleum-based ingredients â Found in many air fresheners and polishes
Â
What are the benefits of using natural household products?
⢠Safer for your health â No toxic fumes, hormone disruptors, or artificial preservatives
⢠Better for the environment â No harmful chemicals washing into waterways
⢠Gentle yet effective â Cleans surfaces without leaving behind dangerous residues
⢠Ideal for sensitive immune systems â Great for those who are immunocompromised, have allergies, or chronic illnesses
Why do pets need natural products too?
Pets lick their fur, paws, and surroundings, meaning theyâre constantly exposed to whatever is in their environment. Many pet care products contain artificial fragrances, toxic preservatives, and harmful essential oils that can cause skin irritation, allergies, or even serious health issues.
What ingredients should I avoid in pet products?
⢠Artificial fragrances & dyes â Can cause allergic reactions and respiratory issues
⢠Essential oils toxic to pets â Some oils (like tea tree, peppermint, and eucalyptus) can be harmful
⢠Petroleum-based ingredients â Common in paw balms, but they coat the skin rather than nourish it
⢠Harsh preservatives â Can lead to irritation and long-term health problems
What makes the Lavender Labrador pet products different?
My pet products are made with safe, simple, and effective natural ingredientsâno synthetic junk, no harmful preservatives, and no toxic essential oils. Everything is handmade in small batches with love and care, ensuring your furry friends get the best.
Â
Is your Paw Balm safe for dogs, cats, and ferrets?
Yes! My Unscented Paw Balm is formulated with beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and jojoba oilâall safe for dogs, cats, and ferrets. No harmful essential oils, no synthetic ingredients, just pure, soothing moisture for cracked paws and dry noses.
How can I transition to natural household and pet care products?
Start small! Swap out one or two items at a timeâlike replacing your all-purpose cleaner with a natural alternative, or switching to a chemical-free paw balm for your pet. Over time, youâll notice fewer allergic reactions, cleaner air, and healthier skin (for both you and your pets!).
Can I use the Paw Balm on my own skin?
Absolutely! The ingredients are safe for humans, too, and many people love using it as a hand or cuticle balm. If itâs good enough for your pup, itâs good enough for you!
Do you make household cleaners or laundry products?
Iâm working on it! Iâm passionate about natural living, and I plan to expand into household productslike non-toxic cleaners and detergents. Stay tuned!
đ About Me & The Lavender Labrador Crew
Who are you, and why did you start this company?
Iâm a kidney transplant recipient, artist, and passionate advocate for natural living. In 2022, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. I spent a year on dialysis before receiving a life-saving transplant in 2023.
This journey forced me to rethink every product I used on my body and in my home. I became obsessed with clean, natural ingredients and started making my own skincare and pet products. Soon, what began as a personal project turned into the Lavender Labrador!
Â
Whatâs the story behind the name âthe Lavender Labradorâ?
The brand is named after my rescue dog, Mabel, my black Lab who had a rough start in life. We adopted her in 2024 and rehabilitated her into the happy, healthy pup she is today. When we eloped in Estes Park, CO, Mabel became obsessed with a snow-covered lavender bushâand the name stuck!
Do you make everything yourself?
Yes! Every single product is handmade in small batches in my kitchen. I personally test everything to make sure itâs safe, effective, and made with love.
đźď¸ Merchandise & Art
What kind of merch do you sell?
I offer a variety of products that promote well-being and self-care, such as stickers, tote bags, and towels. Some items are handmade by me, while others are outsourced to companies Iâve carefully researched.
What kind of art do you sell?
Art is my true passion! I sell original artwork, prints, and take custom commissions. My work is inspired by my journey, chronic illness, and the beauty of nature.
Can I request a custom commission?
Yes! I love creating custom pieces that are meaningful to my customers. If you have a specific idea in mind, feel free to reach out.
Will you be adding more products?
Always! Iâm constantly working on new designs, merch, and art pieces. Stay tuned for new releases by following me on social media.

Â
What is kidney failure, and how does it affect daily life?
Kidney failure happens when your kidneys stop filtering waste and excess fluid from your blood. Without dialysis or a transplant, the body canât function properly. Living with kidney disease means constant medications, dietary restrictions, and being extra cautious about infections and toxins.
Is a kidney transplant a cure?
No, a transplant is a treatment, not a cure. I will always be immunosuppressed to prevent rejection. Thatâs why Iâm passionate about making clean, non-toxic products for people like me.
Â
Whatâs something most people donât know about kidney transplants?
A lot of people assume that once you get a transplant, youâre curedâbut thatâs not true! A transplant is a treatment, not a cure. Transplant recipients:
â Take anti-rejection meds for life to prevent organ failure.
â Have to avoid certain foods and chemicals to protect their new organ.
â Are still at risk for kidney disease or rejection if they donât take care of their body.
â Still have their original kidneys! The new, transplanted kidney is placed in the front of your body at the bottom of your abdomen!Â
Thatâs why Iâm so passionate about educating people and creating safe productsâbecause I know firsthand how much your health is impacted by what you put on your skin and in your home.
Â
What does it mean to be immunocompromised?
Being immunocompromised means that my immune system is weaker than normal, making it harder to fight off infections. This can be due to chronic illness, organ transplants, chemotherapy, autoimmune conditions, or other medical treatments.
In my case, I take anti-rejection medications daily to prevent my body from attacking my transplanted kidney. These meds suppress my immune system, meaning I have to be extra careful about what I put on my skin, what I eat, and my exposure to bacteria and toxins.
Why does skincare matter for transplant recipients and those with chronic illness?
When your immune system is suppressed, your skin barrier is weaker, making you more prone to:
â Skin infections â Small cuts or irritations can become serious infections faster.
â Allergic reactions â Skin is more sensitive to harsh chemicals and synthetic ingredients.
â Extreme dryness or irritation â Medications, hospital stays, and treatments can dry out the skin.
Thatâs why natural, nourishing skincare is essential. Many mainstream products contain hormone disruptors, harsh preservatives, and synthetic fragrances that can be absorbed into the skin and cause irritation or even long-term health effects. My products eliminate these risks while still being deeply moisturizing and effective.
Are there any ingredients that transplant recipients should avoid in skincare?
Yes! Many ingredients found in conventional skincare can interfere with transplant medications, increase sensitivity, or be too harsh for compromised immune systems. Some common ones to avoid:
â Grapefruit & grapefruit extracts â Can interfere with transplant medications like Envarsus.
â Harsh preservatives (parabens, formaldehyde-releasing agents) â Can stress your system and cause irritation.
â Synthetic fragrances & dyes â Can trigger allergic reactions or skin sensitivity.
â Green tea extracts â May interact with certain medications.
â Chemical sunscreens (oxybenzone, avobenzone, etc.) â Can cause irritation and hormone disruption.
All Lavender Labrador products are 100% free from these risky ingredients, making them a safe and effective choice for transplant recipients and anyone with a weakened immune system.
Â
